‘Theory, theorising and critical reflection for Practice Educators’
Speaker / facilitator
Siobhan Maclean
Siobhan lives and works in the West Midlands region. She qualified as a social worker in 1990 and as a practice teacher in 1995. She has worked in a variety of social work posts, spanning children and families and adult services.
For more than ten years Siobhan has worked as an independent practice educator and social work consultant. She is involved in all aspects of practice learning from acting as a practice educator, to delivering training to carrying out research in the field.
In 2007 Siobhan was appointed as Honorary Secretary of the International Federation of Social Workers (European Region). Siobhan has learnt a great deal about differing perspectives on the social work role from this position and has enjoyed bringing this learning into her various roles within practice education.
Siobhan has also written widely on social work. She is committed to making the knowledge base accessible to busy practitioners.
Siobhan has a particular passion for supporting social workers to theorise on their practice and instigated the first UK social work practitioner symposium in 2011.
